Training \ Overview

 

Mississippi is an innovator in the development and implementation of The Workforce Education Program designed to help provide companies with the productive workforce they need via partnerships with local community colleges.  Greater Jackson has three community colleges that offer custom job-training programs to companies, which are provided at little or no cost to the companies.  Greater Jackson also has a comprehensive educational system of universities and colleges that offer degree-granting programs, vocational and technical training, and specialized courses of study. 

 

Utilizing the Mississippi accountability model using absolute achievement and academic improvement, Mississippi’s schools are proving that investing in education and accountability pays off in increasing student achievement.  Of the 14 school districts in the MEDA area, 93 percent have received an Accredited Status, while 80 percent of Greater Jackson schools are rated Successful, Exemplary, or Superior- Performing.
