Mississippi is home to 13 private and eight public colleges and universities. Currently, there are over 70,000 students enrolled in Mississippi’s Higher Education System. For the 2004-2005 academic year, Mississippi’s colleges and universities awarded 13,852 degrees and had an operating budget of $2.4 billion. Each year more the 25,000 of the students enrolled in Mississippi’s higher education system purse their degree from colleges and universities located throughout MEDA’s region.
