COMCAST ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR ADVANCED SOLUTIONS CENTER IN MADISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
600 new jobs created serving advanced product customers across the Southeast Region
Jackson, MS (May 17, 2007) – Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services today announced plans for a new advanced solutions center to be located at 384 Galleria Parkway in Madison County, Mississippi, part of the greater metropolitan Jackson area.
The new center will support customers with advanced products, including Comcast Digital Voice (CDV) throughout the Southeast. The facility will be staffed by more than 600 new customer service representatives, trainers and management located on two floors of the new building, totaling 71,500-square-feet. John Wuerdeman, most recently director of customer service for Comcast in Knoxville, Tennessee, has been named vice president for the Comcast Advanced Solutions Center. The center is expected to open in August, 2007.
The new center represents a major expansion by Comcast in the greater Jackson area and the state of Mississippi. The company currently has over 800 employees working in the state, including more than 200 administrative, technical and commercial business employees at its Jackson headquarters and 85 customer service representatives at a call center in Pearl. The new jobs will bring the total number of Comcast employees in Mississippi to more than 1400.
"I am pleased Comcast has selected Madison County for its new regional advanced solutions center,” said Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. “Importantly, the creation of some 600 new jobs at this facility is a strong testament to our continued strategy of creating jobs in all sectors of the economy."
“The new advanced solutions center in Mississippi is one of the ways we are making it easier for customers to interact with us,” said John Ridall, president of the Comcast Southern Division.
“Comcast’s first system was in Tupelo, so it’s fitting that the company would make this important investment in the future growth and economic development of Mississippi.”
Comcast has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years, driven by the introduction of new products and services. Strong demand is expected to continue throughout the Southeast for the company’s Triple Play offering – a product package featuring Digital Cable with ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Voice and Comcast High-Speed Internet.
To help meet increased demand for its products, Comcast will hire customer account executives, technical support representatives, trainers and management to staff the new center. The jobs will offer competitive wages and benefits based on education and previous service experience, in addition to a full incentive package including medical, dental and prescription benefits, and complimentary Comcast services.
