NEW BOULEVARD OFFERS TRAFFIC RELIEF AND GROWTH POTENTIAL FOR CITY OF FLOWOOD
The City of Flowood announces the arrival of the Medical Parkway in Flowood, Miss.
Ribbon cutting and opening of the new Medical Parkway will take place on September 27that 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Flowood Drive and Medical Parkway.
The approximately 4,500 linear foot, four-lane boulevard adds a viable corridor to the City of Flowood’s transportation system. Medical Parkway provides an alternate connection between Airport Road (Highway 475) and Flowood Drive. The landscaped boulevard creates a continuous access corridor between Airport Road and Lakeland Drive, alleviating congestion at several of the busiest intersections within the Lakeland Drive area.
The opening presents prime opportunities for development of approximately 120 to 200 acres of land zoned for commercial use with proximity to Jackson International Airport, River Oaks Hospital, Woman’s Hospital and other professional offices. Private landowners located on the Medical Parkway have adopted Architectural guidelines and covenants to ensure aesthetic integrity for the Professional Office Park and the City of Flowood.
The City of Flowood has taken a proactive and aggressive approach to provide the infrastructure to once unimproved land and create a campus-style setting that will encourage new development within the Professional and Medical markets. Rankin County experienced a 22.8% growth in population since 2000. With its proximity to Jackson, Flowood remains a major commercial corridor for residents of the surrounding areas.
