Global Automotive Supplier Calsonic Kansei Expands in Madison

Gov. Phil Bryant and officials from global automotive supplier Calsonic Kansei announced the company’s expansion in Madison. The $16.33 million corporate investment creates 98 new jobs.

“Mississippi’s outstanding reputation in the automotive industry is known worldwide,” Gov. Bryant said. “Calsonic Kansei’s addition of so many new jobs in Madison once again puts our state on the global stage. The expansion proves we have the workforce and business climate to ensure industry leaders like Calsonic enjoy years of success in Mississippi.”

Continental Tire Locating Manufacturing Plant in Hinds County, Mississippi

Governor Phil Bryant and executives from Continental Tire the Americas, LLC, manufacturer of passenger, light truck and commercial vehicle tires, officially announced today the company is locating a commercial vehicle tire manufacturing plant near Clinton, Mississippi, in Hinds County. The project represents a corporate investment of $1.45 billion and will create 2,500 new jobs.

U.S. Foods re-enters region with new Flowood facility

U.S. Foods "chopped" the ribbon on its 272,000 square-foot distribution center in Flowood, marking the company's return to Rankin County after an EF3 twister destroyed its old facility in Pearl.

The new facility, in operation for three weeks, is LEED-certified and features multiple temperature zones. It will serve U.S. Foods' Mississippi and Louisiana markets, which represents about 4,000 chefs, restaurant owners and foodservice operators. Sales in the two states total more than $1 billion annually. Employment will hover between 300 and 400, said Gil Smith, the company's division president.

MDA names new deputy director, Mike McGreavey

Mississippi Development Authority has announced Mike McGrevey has joined the agency as deputy director, effective July 6. McGrevey comes to MDA from the city of Meridian, where he served as chief administrative officer responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the city, including economic development and working to improve the city’s infrastructure.
